History
Brazoria County Municipal Utility District No. 83 (the “District”) was created and established pursuant to Senate Bill No. 1355 in the 87th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature, codified as Chapter 7922A, Special District Local Laws Code in accordance with Article XVI, Section 59 of the Texas Constitution effective May 24, 2021. Pursuant to the provisions of Chapters 49 and 54 of the Texas Water Code, the District is empowered to purchase, operate and maintain all facilities, plants, and improvements necessary to provide water, sanitary sewer service, storm sewer drainage, irrigation, roads, solid waste collection and disposal, including recycling, and to construct parks and recreational facilities for the residents of the District. The Board of Directors held its organizational meeting on September 15, 2021.The District is located within the City of Manvel, Texas (the “City”). All water, wastewater, drainage and road facilities will be conveyed to the City as constructed and placed in service. The rights and obligations to operate water, wastewater, drainage and road facilities for the benefit of the residents of the District have been conveyed to the City of Manvel, Texas pursuant to an agreement. The District currently consists of 437.869 acres and serves the Valencia community.
